HC Deb 21 January 1943 vol 386 c275
18. Mr. Tinker

asked the Minister of Labour the cost-of-living figures for 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941 and 1942?

Mr. Bevin

The official cost-of-living figures for the beginning of each month since January, 1920, are given in a table on page 219 of the "Ministry of Labour Gazette" for December, 1942, a copy of which can be consulted in the Library.

Mr. Tinker

As my Question was addressed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, perhaps, Mr. Speaker, you would allow me to put this question to the Minister of Labour: Have the Government changed their intention of stabilising prices of essential foodstuffs, because from the recent increase in the price of tea it would seem to appear that they have departed from it?

Mr. Bevin

There is no change in policy.
