HC Deb 24 February 1943 vol 387 cc168-9
67. Mr. Ivor Thomas

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in consultation with our Allies, he will set up machinery to prevent the spread of epidemics in Europe at the end of hostilities?

Mr. Johnstone

The Inter-Allied Committee on Post-War Requirements has set up a technical advisory committee of Allied medical experts, under the chairmanship of Dr. Melville Mackenzie, to study and make recommendations regarding the measures which should be taken to deal with this grave and important problem.

Mr. Thomas

Is the committee taking into account measures to prevent an outbreak of influenza such as we had after the last war?

Mr. Johnstone

I have no doubt it is.
