§ 60. Mr. Gledhillasked the Minister of Information how many men under 30 years of age are still employed by the British Broadcasting Corporation; how many of these are unfit for service in the Forces; and when the remainder are likely to be called up?
§ Mr. BrackenThe number of men between 18 and 30 years of age at present employed in the B.B.C. is 668. Of these 310 are unfit. Of the remainder some are either deferred or ineligible under the Ministry of Labour rules, some are awaiting a decision by the Kennet Committee, and others are awaiting call-up.
§ Mr. GledhillIs it not time that the B.B.C. gave an example to industry in this matter?
§ Mr. BrackenIt is about time that Members of Parliament recognised that the B.B.C. is not a Government Department.
