§ Earl WintertonI desire, in accordance with what I think is precedent, to ask permission to make a short personal statement. In the "News Chronicle" of to-day a fairly lengthy speech was attributed to me which, in fact, I never made, because I did not speak in the Debate yesterday. The sentiments in the speech were, no doubt, from some points of view, 1950 unimpeachable, but they are not my own. There is, I think, a precedent for Members asking permission to put an error of that sort right in the House. I have been in communication with the news editor of the "News Chronicle," who expressed his regret. I do not wish to take any action except to ask you, Sir, and the House to note that the speech was wrongly attributed to me.
§ Earl WintertonI do not know.
