HC Deb 17 February 1943 vol 386 cc1712-3
18. Mr. Hewlett

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been called to the increasing loss of life among members of the Royal Air Force by road accidents; whether investigation is made in all such cases to ascertain whether these were preventable; and what is the total estimate of the casualties in all such accidents in the last six months for which figures are available?

Sir A. Sinclair

Over the last six months of 1942 the number of Royal Air Force personnel killed in road accidents at home and overseas was 96. This is, I am glad to say, less than the figure for the corresponding period of 1941. All such cases are investigated.
