HC Deb 17 February 1943 vol 386 c1742
Mr. Greenwood

May I ask the Leader of the House whether, in view of the very large number of Members who wish to speak to-day, it will be possible to suspend the Rule?

Mr. Eden

I have considered the matter, and I think I should be meeting the wishes of the House if I were to move such a Motion. At the same time I do not think the House would want to go on sitting indefinitely, and, through the usual channels, I have tried to find out what kind of time would be agreeable to all. I suggest that the Government will move the Adjournment of the Debate at about a couple of hours later than usual. [Interruption.] That, I understood, was agreeable. I think it is desirable that, if we suspend the Rule, we should try to come to an understanding. [Interruption.] No one would dream of interrupting the hon. Member's peroration.
