§ 42. Mr. Higgsasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that no utility cots have yet been provided for the Midland Counties; and at what date he expects them to be obtainable?
§ Mr. DaltonMessrs. Wales, Limited, of Birmingham, the largest nursery furniture manufacturers in the country, are already producing a substantial number of utility cots and will be able to begin delivery next week. Other firms supplying the Midlands are also in production, and some supplies are now ready for distribution to retailers.
§ Mr. HiggsIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that some manufacturers have contracts for these cots in Birmingham and have not yet got delivery of the materials?
§ Mr. DaltonNo, I am not aware of that. If the hon. Member will talk to Mr. Brooke Adie, the managing director of the 1585 firm in Birmingham that I mentioned, he will get a clear idea of what is going on. Mr. Brooke Adie has given valuable assistance to my Department, which I am glad to acknowledge.
§ Mr. McKinlayIs not the cause of the delay the fact that they are waiting on Scots girls to man the factories?
