§ 40. Mr. Manderasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has accepted the application for the registration of Sulgrave University as an incorporated company; what the declared objects of the company are; and whether these include the conferring of degrees?
§ Mr. DaltonNo, Sir. This application has now been withdrawn. According to documents lodged with the Board of 1588 Trade, the objects of this organisation include the maintenance of what is described as an "international university," with constituent colleges in the State of Delaware and in England, and the conferring of degrees.
§ Professor HillIs the right hon. Gentleman a ware that Sulgrave has been described by the News Bulletin of the Institute of International Education in New York as a fraudulent university?
§ Mr. DaltonI think that is a very accurate description.
Wing-Commander JamesWould my right hon. Friend suggest to the Archbishop of Canterbury that he should devote a moment's thought to the reverend living-holder in Northamptonshire who promoted this university, and perhaps even to analogous ecclesiastical matters?
