§ 53. Major Procterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether employers of women normally acting as housekeepers, but now called upon to perform part-time National Service in addition to their housekeeping duties, can claim Income Tax rebate on their account; and whether, both for the information of the public and the tax gatherers, he will define the exact taxable position of these householders in relation to such war workers?
§ Sir K. WoodWhen the conditions of Section 19 of the Finance Act, 1920, are otherwise fulfilled, the fact that the person employed as a housekeeper takes up part-time National Service will not affect the employer's title to the housekeeper 1592 allowance, if the employee in fact continues to perform the duties of housekeeper.
§ Major ProcterWill my right hon. Friend see that that information is conveyed to the Income Tax authorities in Lancashire?
§ Sir K. WoodI hope that they are well aware of it.
