HC Deb 10 February 1943 vol 386 cc1288-9
3. Mr. Astor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will, in conjunction with the Minister of Information, take steps to inform the public of the background facts of the political, economic and social situation in French North Africa so that more informed judgment can be made on the present situation.

Mr. Eden

I will certainly consider in conjunction with the Minister of Information what steps can be taken to give effect to my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Colonel Cazalet

Is there any censorship, part from the ordinary security censorship, of Press information between this country and the United States of America on the question of North Africa?

Mr. Eden

That is rather a wider question. I received a message yesterday that, so far as North Africa itself is concerned, there is now no political censorship strictly so-called. I should, however, like notice of the question.
