HC Deb 09 February 1943 vol 386 cc1163-4
46. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on the supply of arms to Soviet Russia in order to reassure the nation that we are 100 per cent. behind our Soviet Ally in her struggle?

The Prime Minister

I am glad to take this opportunity of declaring that we have done, are now doing, and will continue to do our utmost.

Mr. Shinwell

Has my right hon. Friend been made aware of the speech recently delivered by a former member of the War Cabinet and Minister of Aircraft Production, in which he indicated that we are not doing sufficient for Russia?

The Prime Minister

That is what one may call a process of emphatic stimulation.

Sir Waldron Smithers

When the Prime Minister is considering these things, will he take into consideration whether the coalminers of this country are making full sacrifices?
