§ 33. Mr. Perkinsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps have been taken to prepare plans for the development of civil aviation in the Colonial Empire; and the name of the division in his Ministry responsible?
§ Colonel StanleyAll Colonial Governments have been requested to furnish their views on the question of post-war civil aviation developments in their territories. When these have been received I shall be able to prepare more detailed schemes both for civil aviation services and ground facilities. I am fully aware of the importance of this Question and am considering what further steps can usefully be taken at this stage. As regards the last part of the Question, civil aviation matters are, in the present war conditions, the concern of the Defence Department of the Colonial Office in conjunction with the various Geographical Departments.
§ Captain Sir William BrassCan the right hon. and gallant Gentleman say when he expects to get replies from the various Colonies?
§ Colonel StanleyI am afraid that I cannot forecast the actual date. The difficulties of communication are, of course, great, and all Governments are working under great pressure, but I hope to get the replies soon.
§ Sir W. BrassWill the right hon. and gallant Gentleman press them to send the replies soon?
