asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the devaluation of the franc from 176.60 to 300 to the £ in French North Africa was effected with His Majesty's Government's consent?

The rate of exchange between the franc on the one hand and the £ and the dollar on the other hand was announced by the French authorities in North Africa after discussion with the United States Government. His Majesty's Government were kept informed.
