HC Deb 02 February 1943 vol 386 c745
40 and 41. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Labour (1) how many men are out of work in the London docks, giving the number for each dock;

(2) how many men working in the London docks have been transferred to other towns, giving these separately?

Mr. Tomlinson

I am having inquiries made and will communicate with my hon. Friend.

42. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Labour how many strikes occurred in the royal group of docks during the year 1942; and whether any of the men in any of the docks have been refused unemployment pay?

Mr. Tomlinson

There were three strikes at the royal group of docks during 1942, namely, on 25th and 26th September, 29th and 30th October, and 19th, 20th and 21st November. There is no record of any claims to unemployment benefit having been made by workers involved in these disputes.
