asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is proposed to bring into operation the Children Adoption Act, 1939?

Yes, Sir. As my right hon. Friend said in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Wallsend (Miss Ward) on 28th January, the Act will be brought into operation as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made.

How long is it likely to take?

I should think two or three months, but I should not like to tie myself to a date.
