§ 8. Mr. Ivor Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any members of the foreign service have yet been retired on pension under the Foreign Service Act?
§ Mr. EdenI have nothing at present to add to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member on 28th October.
§ Mr. ThomasIs my right hon. Friend aware that this Act, which received the Royal Assent some months ago, was asked for as a war-time emergency Measure, and while I do not ask for action under it, is the position not rather surprising?
§ Mr. EdenI do not think it is surprising. One must give careful consideration to cases of this kind, and lately I have myself been otherwise occupied.
