HC Deb 14 December 1943 vol 395 c1402
83. Mr. Turton

asked the Home Secretary how many of the 10 persons recently sentenced at Manchester Assizes for black-market offences involving £42,869 were British subjects by birth?

Miss Wilkinson

I am informed that seven of the defendants in the case in question are British subjects by birth, one acquired British nationality by being included in his father's certificate of naturalisation in 1910, one is of Syrian nationality and one is of Argentinian nationality.

Mr. Turton

Will the hon. Lady take steps to secure that those who are abusing the hospitality of this country when they are guests are sent out of the country?
