HC Deb 05 August 1943 vol 391 cc2435-6
15. Major Sir Edward Cadogan

asked the Minister of Health whether he was aware that the requisitioning of certain premises, of which he has been informed, was confirmed by the Welsh local authorities verbally, by telegram and by letter when he gave his approval; and whether, after the premises have been occupied for three years without any requisitioning or tenancy agreement, the owner will be asked to sign an agreement?

Miss Horsbrugh

The answer to the first part of the Question is "No, Sir." As explained to my hon. and gallant Friend in the course of correspondence and in the reply of the 1st July last to his earlier Question, the circumstances attending the occupation of the premises by the Merionethshire County Council gave rise to some misunderstanding. The position was made clear to the owner, however, as long ago as September, 1941, and since that time the County Council have continued their earlier endeavours to arrange a tenancy agreement as offering the best solution for all concerned.
