Mr. Sorensenasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that war films showing the dropping of bombs, the shattering of buildings and the destruction of human life, have been shown to elementary and secondary schools and to mentally retarded schoolchildren; whether he has approved of the display of such films; and whether, in consistency with the practice of cinemas and in consideration of ethical and psychological factors, he will prevent the display of such films to schools either as entertainment or otherwise?
§ The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Butler)I do not know to which exhibition of war films the hon. Member refers. If he will give me further particulars I will make inquiries.
§ Mr. SorensenIf the right hon. Gentleman is satisfied that this exhibition has been given, will he take steps to dissuade other education committees from presenting such films?
