§ 22. Sir H. Williamsasked the Postmaster-General the terms on which sub-postmasters are remunerated, and whether he is proposing any change in them?
§ Captain CrookshankSub-postmasters are remunerated on a commission basis, credit being given on an agreed scale applicable throughout the country according to the amount of the various classes of Post Office business done at each office. In addition, a war bonus is paid on a scale similar to that operative in the Civil Service generally. The basic scale of pay is reviewed from time to time in consultation with the National Federation of Sub-Postmasters. Claims made by the Federation for a higher rate of credit for certain classes of work have recently been under consideration, and an agreement has just been reached under which the pay for a number of items of business will be improved with effect from 1st March, 1943.
