HC Deb 14 April 1943 vol 388 cc1207-8
44. Sir W. Brass

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport the total number of private motor cars licensed within the London County Council area in the last quarter of 1942, September to December, as compared with the same quarter of 1938?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. Noel-Baker)

The number of licences for private motor cars issued by the London County Council which were still valid in the last quarter of 1942, was 36,514. In the last quarter of 1938, the number was 148,503.

Sir W. Brass

In view of the large drop in numbers, would my hon. Friend convey this answer to the Home Secretary, so that he does not waste the time of the police in this area?
