HC Deb 14 April 1943 vol 388 c1218
65. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Supply why the Government did not take over the limestone quarries and blast furnaces at the same time as the steel works of the Barrow Hematite Steel Company?

The Minister of Supply (Sir Andrew Duncan)

The purchase was limited to what was required to secure certain necessary improvements, as explained in the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Bournemouth (Sir L. Lyle) on 31st March.
