§ 61. Mr. Lipsonasked the Minister of Fuel and Power why, in view of the need to avoid unnecessary use of petrol, certain motor dealers are still able to hire out "Drive yourself" motor-cars and give hirers an allowance of one to one and a-half gallons of petrol a day without questions being asked as to the use for which the motor-cars are required; and will he put an end to this practice?
§ The Minister of Fuel and Power (Major Lloyd George)It is not possible within the ambit of Question and Answer in this House to deal with the present system. My Department has, however, had under examination for some time the question of hired cars, and I am proposing at an early 811 date to make certain changes, on the lines suggested by my hon. Friend, details of which will be announced shortly.
