HC Deb 29 September 1942 vol 383 c648
17. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he can take steps to ensure more efficient use of daylight in black-out arrangements and save electricity and fuel?

Major Lloyd George

I am anxious to secure the substitution of removable black-out fittings for fixed ones wherever practicable; but the obstacle in the way of doing this generally is shortage both of labour and materials.

Mr. Woodburn

Is the Minister aware that there is great variety in the amount of ingenuity shown by firms in accomplishing this object? Could he not utilise propaganda, to get firms to use their brains as well as materials?

Major Lloyd George

Yes, Sir.
