HC Deb 29 September 1942 vol 383 c672
56. Sir Henry Morris-Jones

asked the Prime Minister whether he will recommend that 15th September each year be officially designated as Air Trafalgar Day, or such appropriate name, to commemorate the deeds of the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain?

The Prime Minister

I am not inclined at this stage of the war to make the particular recommendation of the kind suggested by the hon. Member. His Majesty's Government do not, of course, wish to discourage any spontaneous form of commemoration or ceremony to mark such anniversaries.
