HC Deb 11 September 1942 vol 383 cc521-2
40. Mr. Evelyn Walkden

asked the Minister of Health whether, since the issue of the White Paper, he has given further consideration to the question of making scabies notifiable in view of the opinion of many local authorities that this course would be of material help to them?

The Minister of Health (Mr. Ernest Brown)

I have considered this question, and, while I am advised that it would not be appropriate to make scabies notifiable generally, I am prepared to consider applications from local authorities to have scabies made notifiable in their district, upon being satisfied that the authority have adequate facilities for diagnosis and treatment.
