HC Deb 10 September 1942 vol 383 c289
47. Mr. Mathers

asked the Prime Minister whether he will take steps to end the anomaly whereby the Minister of Agriculture, with no other responsibility in Scotland, occupies the position of Commissioner of the Crown Lands in Scotland?

The Prime Minister

Although the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries in England and Wales is appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands under the Crown Lands Act, 1906, by virtue of his office as Minister, his functions as Commissioner of Crown Lands are conducted quite separately from his functions as Minister of Agriculture. But since the question has been raised I shall gladly look into it.
