§ Mr. SpeakerI have to inform the House that His Excellency Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek has expressed the hope that a small Mission, composed of Members of both Houses, would be able to visit Chungking this autumn. The Lord Chancellor and I were, accordingly, asked to assist in inviting Members for this purpose, two from each House, and the following have accepted the proposal to be members of the Mission: Lord Ailwyn and Lord Teviot, the hon. Member for West Renfrew (Mr. Wedderburn) and the hon. Member for Chester-le-Street (Mr. Lawson). The House, I am sure, will learn with gratification that it has thus been found possible to take advantage of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's most welcome invitation and will wish the members of the Mission great success in the discharge of their important undertaking.
