HC Deb 09 September 1942 vol 383 c130
13. Mr. Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether arrangements can be made so that married officers who are required to live in mess for short periods for operational purposes, do not suffer a reduction in their allowances?

Sir A. Sinclair

It has been arranged that married officers who normally reside with their families shall not suffer a reduction in their allowances if they are required to live in mess for short periods provided that when they are again permitted to live out they rejoin their families in the accommodation previously occupied. If, however, the officers while living in mess are provided with rations in kind they cease to be eligible for ration allowance.

Mr. Boothby

Is my right hon. Friend aware that this decision will give great satisfaction?
