HC Deb 08 September 1942 vol 383 cc36-7
70. Mr. Craven-Ellis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, from what source the difference between the £141,000,000, which was subscribed in the 1,178 warship weeks through channels especially designed for the small investor, and the total subscription of £546,000,000 came?

Sir K. Wood

The information asked for by my hon. Friend could not, I am afraid, be obtained without a wholly disproportionate amount of labour as it would involve a detailed examination of the subscriptions received during each Warship Week.
