HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2095
50. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the national importance of an increased production of milk, he will make a pronouncement regarding his recommendations as to three-times milking?

Mr. Hudson

I do not consider that any appreciable extension of three-times milking is practicable under existing conditions.

Mr. De la Bère

Is my right hon. Friend aware that some additional effort will have to be made in order to make up the loss to small farmers which has been occasioned by the recent actions of the Ministry of Food? Is he aware that this is an important matter and is bound to affect production?

Mr. Hudson

That is not the Question on the Paper.

Mr. De la Bère

Why is my right hon. Friend trying to by-pass the matter? Is he not the trustee for the farmer and why does he not do his job?
