HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 c2081
35. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the General Nursing Council has arrogated to itself the power at discretion to refuse to admit to any of the council's examinations even candidates who have completed their studies, without being under any obligation to state their reason; and whether, in view of the adverse effects of this decision on the recruitment of nurses, he will intervene in this matter?

Mr. E. Brown

I am making inquiries as to the resolution to which my hon. Friend refers and will communicate with him further as soon as possible.

Mr. Davies

If the right hon. Gentleman finds that the statement in the Question is correct, will he see to it that the decision is reversed, because it is very hard to have this threat overhanging them all the time?

Mr. Brown

I will look at the resolution first.
