HC Deb 22 October 1942 vol 383 cc2076-7
18. Mr. Sorensen

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he has made progress respecting his prospective education proposals; and when he will be in a position to introduce these to the House?

The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Butler)

Progress is certainly being made. I am not yet in a position to add anything to previous answers relating to the last part of the Question, which does not lie wholly within my discretion.

Mr. Sorensen

In view of the very long delay in considering this matter, could the right hon. Gentleman say when we are likely to receive an interim or full report?

Mr. Butler

Considering the magnitude of the issues involved, I would not accept the statement that delay has been unduly long. I am as keen as the hon. Member to make progress and to report to the House.

Mr. Sorensen

While fully appreciating the fact that the right hon. Gentleman should be as keen as I am, is he not aware that numerous educational bodies have been anxiously awaiting this report for some time?
