§ 54. Brigadier-General Clifton Brownasked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to the recommendation in paragraph 541, page 90, of the Scott Report, that the Government should lay down a definite agricultural policy for five years now in order that utilisation of the land in rural areas can be proceeded with; and whether he will take immediate steps to that end to give confidence to owners and farmers to carry on with full production from their soil?
Mr. HudsonPost-war agricultural policy is under consideration together with the other matters referred to in the Scott Report. I am not in a position at present to make any further statement.
Brigadier-General BrownDoes my right hon. Friend realise the importance of letting owners and farmers know what part they are to play in any new planning of rural England after the war?
Mr. HudsonAs I said recently, the really important thing is for people to get on with production and not to worry about other matters.
