HC Deb 14 October 1942 vol 383 c1606
48. Mr. Boothby

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the possibility of setting-up an Allied general staff in London to co-ordinate strategy and to secure effective co-operation between the Allied Governments in the field of production?

Mr. Attlee

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has nothing to add to previous statements about arrangements for the co-ordination of Allied strategy and production which have been made on behalf of His Majesty's Government; except that the arrangements already made both in London and Washington for the co-ordination of production are being constantly developed and improved.

Mr. Boothby

Do his Majesty's Government really think that the present machinery for co-ordinating strategy is adequate for the requirements of a global war?

Major C S. Taylor

Would my right hon. Friend consider co-ordinating first, inter-Service strategy before he goes into this wider problem?
