§ 17. Mr. David Adamsasked the Minister of Labour whether, for women to be employed on part-time factory work, Government training centres are being utilised for preliminary training where required?
§ Mr. BevinYes, Sir. I have made arrangements under which the resources of the Government training centres can be made available for the training of part-time workers where this is necessary, and in fact a small number are being so trained. The majority of women volunteers for part-time work, however, are being placed in jobs where training of the kind given by the Ministry is not required.
§ Mr. AdamsIs the Minister aware that there is considerable accommodation in many of these centres for the training of such women?
§ Mr. BevinYes, Sir, but I am anxious not to fill up training centres with people to train if I can put them straight into work.
