HC Deb 07 October 1942 vol 383 c1216
6. Mr. William Brown

asked the Minister of Supply whether the arrangements in operation at a Royal Ordnance factory, of which he has been notified, whereby a proportion of the earnings of the operatives are held in suspense, and disbursement made from the suspense account to cover periods of absence by the operatives from work, is common to all Royal Ordnance factories; and whether he will issue instructions to end the practice in view, of the encouragement which it gives to absenteeism?

Sir A. Duncan

I am investigating this matter, and will communicate with my hon. Friend when my inquiries have been completed.
