HC Deb 07 October 1942 vol 383 c1191
8. Mr. Walter Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will issue an instruction to the effect that the personnel of the Royal Air Force may be allowed to wear civilian shoes during off duty hours, thus bringing them into line with their colleagues in the Army?

The Secretary of State for Air (Sir Archibald Sinclair)

This matter has recently been under review and a regulation permitting Royal Air Force personnel to wear shoes of a suitable type when off duty will shortly be made.
