HC Deb 06 October 1942 vol 383 c1078
66. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the utility pottery that is now being manufactured; have steps been taken to see that it is fairly distributed throughout the country; and the particular needs of the industrial areas that have suffered from air raids given consideration?

The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Dalton)

Yes, Sir. Utility pottery is being manufactured under an Order I made on 30th May. At my request manufacturers have undertaken to maintain their normal proportion of trade with wholesalers and to send extra supplies, on direction by my Department, to areas which specially need them, as a result of increased demand due to movements of population, or following air raids.
