HC Deb 06 October 1942 vol 383 c1066
40. Mr. Murray

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that miners in the Crook district, County Durham, are having great difficulty in obtaining candles for use in the mine; and, in view of such shortage, what he proposes to do to overcome this difficulty?

The Minister of Fuel and Power (Major Lloyd George)

My Ministry's officers in this region have not received any complaints from collieries in the Crook district about shortages of candles, but since my hon. Friend raised the matter, steps have already been taken to supply the Co-operative Society at Crook with further stocks.
