asked the Secretary of State for War the reason for the provision that a member of the Auxiliary Territorial Service may not be posted to the same station as her husband if she holds a rank senior to him?

My hon. Friend is under a misapprehension. The regulation lays down that, while there is no objection to a husband and wife serving in the same locality, they may not serve with the same unit. There is no question of rank. The regulation was made because the situation in question had, in fact, been found to cause difficulty.

Is my right hon. Friend aware that in the case of the W.A.A.F: the opposite policy is followed?

There is some difference, certainly, but the circumstances are not the same.
