HC Deb 26 November 1942 vol 385 c872
48. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can give any information about the three land women killed, and 14 injured, in a lorry at Billericay, Essex, on Tuesday, 10th November; and what compensation will be paid?

The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. R. S. Hudson)

It is impossible at the moment to say what compensation will be payable in respect of the women killed and injured as a result of the accident on Monday, 9th November, until their representatives have formulated their claim. It is possible that action may be taken in the courts by the injured parties to establish both the question of liability and the amount of damages to which they may be entitled.
