33. Mr. Wakefield

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning whether he will state the salary paid and the motor-car allowance per mile granted to Mrs. Giles, the officer in the North West Region of his Department engaged in the collection of railings and scrap metal?

Mr. Hicks

Mrs. Giles is paid a salary of £260 a year plus £16 2s. cost of living bonus and receives for the use of her car a flat rate allowance of 2¾d. a mile and an annual allowance of £21.

Mr. Wakefield

While thanking the Minister for his reply, may I ask whether the salary and motor car allowance are the same as for other officers throughout the country?

Mr. Hicks

I think they are the same.
