HC Deb 19 November 1942 vol 385 cc490-1
41. Major Sir Joselyn Lucas

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to expulsions under the Camp Restrictions Order at Horndean and, in view of the fact that the men concerned are nearly all evacuees from bombed areas in Portsmouth, and that the huts are barely within the 10-mile limit, will he exercise his discretion and authorise the police to grant immunity for the duration of the war?

Mr. H. Morrison

I understand that certain persons have recently been convicted for contravention at Horndean of the Camping (Restrictions) Order and that some of these persons have had their homes destroyed or damaged by enemy action at Portsmouth. As regards the suggestion in the latter part of my hon. and gallant Friend's Question, I am making some inquiries, and I will communicate further with him as soon as possible.
