§ Sir W. JowittThe Government are fully alive to the important part which civil aviation must play after the war. An inter-departmental committee was appointed in August, 1941, to make recommendations as regards the reconstruction, organisation and development of civil aviation after the war. This committee submitted an interim report in January last raising certain questions which are being considered by His Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. PerkinsIs the right hon. and learned Gentleman aware that it takes approximately four years to produce an engine suitable for civil purposes, and does he not consider that a start should be made now?
§ Sir W. JowittThere is every reason to avoid delay, but the hon. Gentleman will see the implications of this problem. It does not concern only this country.
