HC Deb 17 November 1942 vol 385 cc198-9
78. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can now make any statement as to the reasons which brought Herr Hess to this country?

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Richard Law)

No, Sir. My right hon. Friend has nothing to add to statements already made.

Mr. Edwards

Has the hon. Gentleman read the statement which was made by the late Lord Provost of Glasgow, who professes to know everything that took place, and has he any comment to make upon it?

Mr. Law

The only comment that I have to make is that I am not responsible for the statements of the late Lord Provost of Glasgow.

Mr. Kirby

Is there any foundation for the statement that the late Lord Provost professes to be in the counsels of the authorities?
