HC Deb 17 November 1942 vol 385 c187
65. Mr. Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the Committee which is inquiring into the herring fishing industry is expected to report?

Mr. Johnston

I understand that an interim report on certain points which are considered to be of immediate importance will be submitted by the Committee at an early date.

Mr. Loftus

Are any representatives of the English fishing industry on the Committee? Is my right hon. Friend aware that a large proportion of the herring caught in peace-time are caught by English boats, and that the English boats are entitled, therefore, to representation?

Mr. Johnston

I should like to see those Questions on the Order Paper.

Mr. Henderson Stewart

Will that interim report be a public document?

Mr. Johnston

I think so, but I cannot pledge myself offhand.
