HC Deb 17 November 1942 vol 385 c188
46. Mr. W. Brown

asked the Prime Minister whether he will initiate the setting-up of a joint Allied command for the purpose of prosecuting this war as a global war?

47. Mr. Granville

asked the Prime Minister whether, in order to secure the closest co-operation and the unification of Allied strategy in the United Nations offensives, he will now consider the suggestion for the formation of an Allied Supreme War Council?

The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

I have nothing to add to what has already been said on this subject.

Mr. Brown

Has the Deputy Prime Minister seen the statement made by Mr. Wendell Wilkie as recently as yesterday on this subject, and, in view of that statement, does he think that replies to the effect that he has nothing to add meet the case?

Mr. Attlee

No, I have not see that.

Mr. Granville

In view of the fact that the right hon. Gentleman's previous answers to me were to the effect that everything in the garden was lovely, can he say whether General de Gaulle was consulted on the North African campaign, and particularly on Admiral Darlan's position in it?

Commander Locker-Lampson

Have no truck with the Vichy virgins.
