HC Deb 10 November 1942 vol 383 cc2253-4
52. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Prime Minister whether he can now make any announcement respecting the chaining of prisoners?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. But I hope to do so in the near future.

Mr. Sorensen

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether a Question could be put down, say, a week hence?

The Prime Minister

I think it would be a very reasonable course to put down a Question, but I am not forecasting the answer.

Earl Winterton

My right hon. Friend is no doubt aware of the poignant anxiety which is felt in this country by many relatives of prisoners, and will he accelerate the reply as much as possible?

The Prime Minister

I, too, am very anxious about our prisoners.
