32. Mr. David Adams

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of their post-war employment, recruits, whenever practicable, are receiving periods of training at Government training centres?

Sir J. Grigg

It is not practicable to release men from the Army to attend special courses to prepare them for postwar employment. In many cases, however, their Service training will help to qualify them for civil employment. Some of this training is in fact given at Ministry of Labour centres.

Mr. Adams

I take it that the Minister fully appreciates that there is bound to be a great expansion of electrical and mechanical power after the war, and, therefore that such training as could be given to these young men would be of great value to them?

What is the use of training these men when the Restoration of Pre-war Practices Act will make it impossible for them to get jobs?
